(CNN) — A young blogger arrested in Iran for allegedly insulting supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in an Internet posting has died in prison, his attorney said Friday.Attorney Mohammad Ali Dadkhah said Omid Mir Sayafi, reported to be in his 20s, died in Evin prison, which is located in Tehran and known for its wing holding political prisoners.Dadkhah told CNN that a fellow inmate called him Wednesday night with the news — and said he believed Sayafi would have lived if he received proper medical care.

On a related note, the mullahs are shutting down blogs:
TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps said on Thursday it has launched a crackdown on several groups who had set up anti-Islamic and pornographic Internet sites.
The announcement came after a lawyer said that young Iranian blogger jailed in Tehran's notorious Evin prison for insulting supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had died.
The Revolutionary Guards, set up to defend the Islamic republic, said it has "dismantled several networks that had set up anti-religious, anti-revolution and obscene Internet sites."
It said the groups behind these sites were based in foreign countries, particularly in the United States and had published "articles against the Islamic revolution, religious values and also released pornographic material."
Roxana Saberi better be okay.I wonder if that useful idiot Annette Benning has commented on the situation.
