
I think he means people trusting him to do the right thing, he shafts them, they in turn re-elect him. Actually this is the Mayor's way of trying to get the city council to spend money on projects. Talk about winning friends!
Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford has printed several hundred color fliers and a dozen posters assailing a "Cycle of Stupidity" that he says is delaying major city projects.
The illustration shows images of the planned dome downtown, zoo expansion, and pre-kindergarten programs -- all initiatives that most Birmingham City Council members say they support, but unanimously said no to funding last week.
"Delay has set us light-years behind," |he said. "When you've got the funds to do it and you don't do it, that's stupid. That's sheer stupidity in its rawest form."
Langford said Monday that his posters are not an attack on the council, but rather a call to action to make good on projects that he thinks will benefit the entire city. The mayor said his office's budget was used to pay for the posters and fliers, which were produced by his public information office and printed by city staffers. Deborah Vance-Bowie, his chief of staff, described the cost as "very little," limited to the use of a printer, paper and poster board.
