Obama's Chief Information Officer Serves One Week:Takes leave because of FBI Investigation

In fairness ,Mr. Kundra is not have been the target but his subordinates certainly were. On a bad timing note he called for greater access by Americans to government data on the same day that his subordinates were arrested in a bribery sting. Perhaps the people who worked for him misunderstood the meaning of access?

WASHINGTON (CNN) After just a week on the job, the Obama administration’s new chief information officer is taking a leave of absence until further notice.

A White House official tells CNN that Vivek Kundra is taking a leave from his post at the Office of Management and Budget until more details become known about an FBI investigation that resulted in a search of his former work place.

A law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN that Kundra is not involved in the case

Possible theories:
  • Either he knew what they were doing and wasn't caught in the net.
  • He was oblivious to horrendous corruption underneath his nose.(My Choice)
  • Its also possible he knew something was going on and tipped of the feds.

And what does a Information Officer do?

WASHINGTON (AP)The White House's first chief information officer, Vivek Kundra, wants Americans to have access to more government data to drive innovation and help stimulate the economy.

When the government puts rich information into the public domain it can help create new markets, Kundra said Thursday at FOSE, an annual government technology expo. For instance, he said, the global-positioning satellite system spurred everyday technology used to get directions or locate restaurants. But he didn't suggest any other data sources that might be unleashed.

President Barack Obama named Kundra this month to oversee government technology, a newly created role. That includes making sure disparate computer systems speak to each other and watching the security for vast information databanks.

Would you trust this guy with your medical records? Man the President knows how to pick him, add another name to the great vetting disaster of 2009.
