First things first Obama is an American and a President so between calling him an ignoramus, and now this he is insulting all of us. Its clear Chavez is a tyrant with no check on whatever whim comes to mind , be it verbal gaffes or actual oppression. Just the other day an opponent of Chavez fled and is trying to find asylum over seas. This tyrant is a classic example of why we have checks and balances.
(CNN) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Friday he appreciated U.S. President Barack Obama's friendly gestures at last weekend's Summit of the Americas, but said they don't change his view of the United States as an imperialist nation.
Even more bizarre and surely the hallmark of a leader with too much power is the race comment:
As he has in the past, Chavez noted Obama's historic role as the first black U.S. president.
"I hope Obama, for the dignity of his race, may be the last president of an imperialist United States," he said.
What the hell does that mean? Because he is black he needs to stop America from being Imperialist. What bizarre left wing identity politics could describe this? Oh and Hillary Clinton really finds things amusing as Secretary State.
WASHINGTON, April 22 (Reuters) - Republican lawmakers piled scorn on U.S. President Barack Obama on Wednesday for shaking Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez's hand last weekend, an encounter Secretary of State Hillary Clinton dismissed as "amusing."
Republicans on the House of Representatives foreign affairs committee condemned the televised greeting between Obama and Chavez, whom Representative Mike Pence labeled a "virulent, anti-American, socialist dictator."
"I found it somewhat amusing, to be honest," Clinton, who was with Obama at the Summit of the Americas in Trinidad when he greeted Chavez, told the committee. "President Obama was right in saying 'You know, why should we be afraid of shaking somebody's hand?'"
Pence retorted: "Let me say, with the deepest respect, Madam Secretary, I am not amused.""He (Chavez) has oppressed the media. He has bullied economic interests in the country. He has blacklisted political opponents from state agencies," Pence said.
Let Me Help Clinton here on what Chavez is up to:
Chavez is in the middle of a crackdown and turning Venezuela into a totalitarian state. There is no aspect of that country which he isn't trying to control. From his economic takeovers to the oppression of political opponents. The President does not need to provide this tyrant any propaganda victories, sadly, Obama did just that. Of course this is the same Chavez who is also supporting the Genocidal tyrant of Sudan. Lets see there was also the time Chavez thugs tear gassed the Vatican Embassy , used plastic bullets on college students , and of course booted out the ambassador from Israel. Here are highlights from the Clinton State Department report on Human Rights abuses in Venezuela:
(NGO) Venezuelan Program of Action and Education in Human Rights (PROVEA) reported 39 deaths resulting from mistreatment while in custody.
- PROVEA documented 247 unlawful killings by government security forces from October 2007 through September.
- PROVEA recorded four victims of killings allegedly involving police forces in the 12 months through September.
- According to PROVEA, on July 4, 19-year-old Roger Oscar Avila was shot and killed by unknown members of the Caracas Metropolitan Police. Avila, who, according to police officials planned to steal a car at gunpoint, was brought to the Perez Carreno Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. Avila's family members denied police allegations of attempted auto theft, stating that Avila did not know how to drive a car, let alone steal one.
- On July 27, 33-year-old Miguel Baba Barroyeta was placed in custody and sent to the El Rodeo jail. He was shot and killed while in the custody of the National Guard after allegedly insulting a guard.
- On October 23, nine Lara state police officers and two National Guardsmen allegedly kidnapped six persons in Lara State and later tortured and killed them execution style in neighboring Portuguesa State. Five of the victims were minors. The killings reportedly were linked to drug turf battles. At year's end the Ministry of Interior and Justice had suspended the nine police officers pending further investigations. Formal charges were brought against the 11 suspects on December 18.

Chavez is a despicable dictator...
ReplyDeleteEven Spanish PM Rodriguez Zapatero, a socialist, stuck up for his erstwhile conservative opponent & PM, Aznar, when Chavez started calling him a fascist!!!
B. Hussein sits there and listens to a 53 minute diatribe for Ortega and doesn't even respond.
He is a coward and a charlatan....
