- Who helped J.P Morgan Chase and other Financial Groups overcharge by 100 million in fees Jefferson County.
- The same Mayor who has saddled his constituents with a billion dollar debt.
The Mayor will ask the City Council to pass a resolution allowing city department heads to sign off on federal documentsBirmingham Mayor Larry Langford no longer has the authority to sign federal grant applications or enter into agreements that involve federal money as a result of his indictment on bribery and conspiracy charges.
Langford's name was placed on the federal government's Excluded Parties List -- a list of people and organizations barred from conducting business with federal agencies -- by the Environmental Protection Agency in March. Langford received a notice of the action in late February.Langford said Friday that the notice went to his home in Fairfield, not to City Hall or his downtown apartment.Langford, along with Montgomery investment banker Bill Blount and lobbyist Al LaPierre, are named in a 101-count federal indictment charging them with conspiracy and bribery. All three men, who deny wrongdoing, are scheduled for trial Aug. 31.Blount, his firm Blount Parrish & Co., and LaPierre also were placed on the Excluded Parties List.
