Roxana Saberi Meets Parents: To Be Tried By Revolutionary Court

She sounds as okay as she could be, we can only hope her spirits hold up. Revolutionary Courts are the regimes way to deal with national security issues which strikes me as somewhat ominous. Well between her and the accusations against Euna Lee and Laura Ling we have open season on American journalists by our enemies.

TEHRAN (AFP) — The father of US journalist Roxana Saberi, who has been held in Iranian custody since January, expressed hope on Monday that she will soon be freed soon after visiting her in a notorious Tehran prison."We have heard that she will be released soon, God willing," Reza Saberi told AFP, adding he was satisfied with his daughter's condition in the prison."There is at the moment a hope and we don't know what happens next. The case has to go through its procedures."

Saberi and his wife Akiko, who arrived in Tehran on Sunday to pursue their daughter's case, had a 20-minute meeting with her on Monday in the capital's Evin prison.Saberi said that his 31-year-old daughter's general condition was "good" and she was extremely happy to see them.

"She had no idea about the visit. She was very surprised," Saberi said."She was contemplating going on hunger strike but she has dropped the idea. She eats and does some exercises. She is now allowed to have a few books and they have put a television in her room, which is also shared with three other inmates."

US-born Saberi, who also holds an Iranian passport, was arrested for allegedly buying alcohol, which is prohibited in the Islamic republic. The Iranian authorities are yet to reveal the charges against the journalist."We know what the charge is but we do not want to give out details before the lawyer has the case papers in hand," the father said.

He said she had asked to see her lawyer and that he along with her mother would also ask to be allowed to visit her once a week. The Iranian foreign ministry said in March that Saberi had been working "illegally" in the country after her press card was revoked in 2006.

Her lawyer Abdolsamad Khoramshahi said on Sunday that Saberi has been indicted and that her case would be dealt with in a Tehran revolutionary court following completion of a preliminary investigation.

In other news Iran is prepared to announce good news in regards to their nuclear program.

TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- Iran's president will deliver some good news this week about the country's first nuclear power plant, a semi-official news agency reported Monday. The Mehr News Agency said President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will comment on progress at the Bushehr nuclear power plant on a visit to the city of Natanz on Thursday. The news agency quoted Parviz Fattah, the Iranian minister of power.

The news is supposed to be about electricity, of course they only have enough fuel to provide weapons, but I am sure a video will solve all our problems.
