(CNN) -- The White House indicated Wednesday that a report and a photo from the controversial low-altitude New York flyover by a 747 plane used as Air Force One could be released soon.Earlier, White House officials had said that there were no plans to release photos to the public. But the tone seemed to change on Wednesday."The report, I believe, will be concluded at some point this week. We'll release its findings and release a photo," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said during his daily press briefing.
The review, led by Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina, will focus on "why that decision was made and to ensure that it never happens again," Gibbs said.

They're caving under pressure on this issue? How about some compromise on something important?
ReplyDeleteDoes this story make any sense? The event was ridiculous - the story more so. A training event?? Training for what?? How to scare the s*&^ out of Manhattanites?
ReplyDeleteIn this day in age, why wouldn't they just create a computer manipulated photo of Air Force One by the Statue of Liberty instead of an actual photo op. It would have saved a lot of money and distress - and who would have known the difference when it was published? Very nervy to keep this under the covers - and to prefer to just deal with the consequences. Not very bright people we have making these decisions. Obviously someone very insensitive and detached from the realities of our area or the effects of 911.
ReplyDeleteOne of the F-16 fighters was from the Alabama Air National Guard Tuskegee "Redtails". Why would the defense department fly an F-16 all the way up from Alabama when they already have several in the area? Is it just a coincidence that George Lucas just happens to be filming a movie about the Tuskegee Airmen right now, and he was a MAJOR contributor to Obama's campaign?
ReplyDeleteMany think it was legitimate photo shoot with a planeload of joy riders(WH staff, friends of the campaign?) Why aren't the mainstream news companies asking these questions. IMHO, it was a joy ride to reward WH staff and campaign staff.
