. -Delaware Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D) said today that the Bush Administration's surge strategy in Iraq is doomed to fail and criticized Army General David Petraeus for offering what he called an overly optimistic assessment of the situation on the ground.

He is right, of course now that is, and the citizenship ceremonies the military has routinely been holding in Iraq are the most honorable things that ever happened in those vain-glorious building. By the way considering Biden's position on the surge its nice to see him in a more positive frame of mind.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Vice President Joe Biden celebrated American patriotism and mocked the ghost of Saddam Hussein during a Fourth of July visit to Iraq on Saturday.

He presided at a naturalization ceremony at one of Hussein's former palaces, where 237 U.S. service members were sworn in to become American citizens."We did it in Saddam's palace and I can think of nothing better. That S.O.B. is rolling over in his grave right now," Biden said of the former Iraqi dictator, who was toppled by a U.S.-led invasion in 2003 and executed by the Iraqi government in 2006.

Standing in the shadow of a 50-foot American flag, the service members recited the Oath of Allegiance and the Pledge of Allegiance in the rotunda of the Al-Faw Palace, now part of the U.S.'s Camp Victory complex in Baghdad. Of course none of this would have happened if we had followed the left's opinions on the surge and the war in general.

  1. There's a corollary to the Peter Principle that says a goofball should be promoted to a high enough position that he can no longer do any real harm.

They keep trying that with Biden, but he still finds ways to screw things up.

  2. You just can't listen to a Biden speech without snickering and yet, he's still better at foreign policy than Obama.

  3. Biden says this and he's applauded. Bush would have said it and he would have been called an idiot cowboy. The hypocrisy is unbelievable.

  4. How sad such a piece of garbage is there on this special day.
He is a perfect example of what is BAD about politics in D.C.

  5. The Vice President has no right to publically use an explective or refer to anyone as a SOB no matter how hated that person is. Is our expert on foreign affairs going to refer to the leader of North Korea with the same profanity? As a leader of the free world the Vice President should have emergency training in etiquette or accept the moniker of Joe Biden, SOB. Grow up Joe.
