In general the President is now distrusted on Domestic issues as the country begins to see through the vapid rhetoric that and policies that are disconnected from reality. Of course the stimulus tragedy and the disastrous way it was implemented knocked the wind out his sails, but he was warned by the GOP it wouldn't work, and guess what it didn't. The gallup poll is not alone either:
Rasmussen Report
Survey of 1,000 Likely Voters
Conducted July 14-15, 2009
| Would it be a good idea to set up a government health insurance company to compete with private health insurance companies? | |
|---|---|
Yes | 35% |
No | 50% |
Not Sure | 15% |
There is this from Politico:
Just as Obama intensifies his efforts to fulfill a campaign promise and reach an agreement with Congress on health care reform, the number of Americans who say they trust the president has fallen from 66 percent to 54 percent. At the same time, the percentage of those who say they do not trust the president has jumped from 31 to 42.
From WaPo:
Heading into a critical period in the debate over health-care reform, public approval of President Obama's stewardship on the issue has dropped below the 50 percent threshold for the first time, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Of course the President's solution is another droning press conference, as if his speech will somehow make the costs and his political problems go away. apparently bankrupting the country for a plan that doesn't work is confusing to many democrats.
