U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday that it will be difficult to meet the administration's Jan. 22, 2010, deadline to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay.
"It's going to be difficult for us to make the January deadline," Holder said in a press conference with reporters on Tuesday, adding, "It doesn't mean we're not going to try to do that."
He said the task force reviewing the 225 prisoners still detained at Gitmo has "gone through all the files," and is now making decisions on what to do with the detainees.
The next trial balloon that might spark interest, Gitmo will be staying open.
